Wahlpflichtfach Englisch goes UNIVERSITY
(Jennifer Sichau, 7A)
26th April. 11:30 departure time.
Accompanied by Prof. Anita Maxl and Prof. Gerhild Grundner we took the train to Graz in order to visit the Karl-Franzens University for the lecture
“AMERICAN CULTURE- HISTORY AND SOCIETY” read by Univ. Prof. Dr. Klaus Rieser.
Well, before that we had a coffee in the area of the university campus and so we also got some first impression of what a student´s ‘life might be.
Fresh and awake we went to our lecture hall and expectantly took our seats. When we were personally welcomed by Professor Rieser, all the students’ heads turned around to us and we surely felt like VIPs, I’d say. The lecture supported by a presentation was about migration in America and was utterly interesting as that topic is more current than ever. Attending this lecture was not only helpful when it comes to learning, but also for us personally and our future. We had the awesome opportunity to get to know what a student’s university life looks like and some of us did already have some sort of “university feeling” themselves.
For the first time, we were no pupils any longer but students for a few hours...
At 5 o’clock p.m. we went back home and I’d bet a lot of mind-sets were already changed and some of us know better now what they want to do after their finals and what will be expected of them at university, all thanks to that trip.
